Who Paid The Rent?
Trutanich's former campaign headquarters on Ventura Blvd. is now the focus
of questions as to who paid the rent in the absence of full and complete campaign finance records.
The 3 questions posed by the Dragnet yesterday into the Trutanich RentGate scandal remain unanswered despite a slew of comments from Trutanich supporters who seem more incensed that anyone dare ask the question, than to have to deal with the answers.

Danette Meyers Lands Major Endorsement

According to her campaign website www.DanetteForDA.com:
Los Angeles, CA - September 7, 2011

Reverend Dr. Cecil “Chip” Murray, former head of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of Los Angeles’ most visible churches,  today officially announced his endorsement of Danette Meyers for District Attorney.

Rev. Murray stated: “History is her story, how for a quarter of a century Danette Meyers has prosecuted more cases than any other elected D.A. in the history of Los Angeles.  Her story includes her selection as Prosecutor of the Year twice, and being recognized as one of the Top 100 lawyers in California.  Her story  includes her election as the first female African American President of the 26,000 member Los Angeles County Bar Association.  Now it's up to fair minded voters like those of us who know her record to celebrate her story by electing her as Los Angeles County District Attorney in 2012.  Make her story history.”

Wow that's a huge endorsement for Danette Meyers.

Getting the First AME endorsement is huge not just for Danette, but more importantly because it locks Trutanich out. When he was running for city atty he was going to all the black churches and doing his "I'm a black man in a white skin" routine, and because there was no blak candidate, the church going folks loved it. But now that the most influential south la church has backed Meyers, he's lost that community.

Nooch has lost more than First AME, which is huge in the African American community, he has lost the election before he's even declared. Even if Nooch can influence the Ethics Commission not to prosecute him, he can't control the FPPC or the DA. Their investigation should be enough to make Baca pull out, then watch all the rats jump ship.

This endorsement puts the final nail in Jackie Lacey's sputtering campaign. She can't get her own people behind her.

It just shows how much people want change at the highest levels of the D.A.'s office.

Yikes! Looks like Nooch is taking the 5th on RentGate. Met News article says he's keeping his mouth shut. This is huge. Oh, and Met News also exposes Deputy DA David Berger as the one who reported Nooch to the authorities, anD says he is the blogger called Dragnet. You can't make this stuff up.

The Met News article only talks about the 2 rent free periods that Nuch used the office. They ignored the below market value rent allegation, so it won't be too bad for Nuch if he's found guilty anyways. Still supporting Nuch and don't care if he is convicted, it's a bs law anyways. Nich will be a great DA and will look after his friends and supporters. Go Nuch!

the Met News article Trutanich not commenting on illegal campaign contribution allegations makes it look like this is a lot more serious than a few billboards. Quite a can of worms.

I bet the 8th floor is on lockdown while Nooch searches for leaks.

Wow Berger has been exposed as "Dragnet!" Before today that fact was only known by . . . Um . . . Uh . . . EVERYONE!

Kudos to David for showing some spine and breaking this story!

False-tanich can't not comment much longer, they have to come up with some kind of a bogus response, wonder what it will be because when Allen maxed out on the$1000 contribution he couldn't even give in kind contributions above that amount.
Don't like how MetNews didn't explain the issue as in depth as Dragnet did. And they also made it seem like Berger is the only critic of Trutanich which is not true, even his former supporters are now Trutanich's biggest critics.

Good for Danette. Jackie should come up with health issues and step away to save herself. All DAs would be proud to have Danette for a boss. Bye bye Cooley and Lacey.

Take another look at all the names on the Trutanich billboards, Then take another look at his campaign expenses. You could be "poised" to unravel an even bigger scandal.

What are the Trutanich billboards? I'm confused. Joe, I'm sorry, but you need to make all this easier to understand. It's a bit confusing.

Everyone is wondering: where is Alan Jackson? Haven't heard from him in a long time. Is he dropping out?

Anonymous said...

Where is Alan Jackson? Where do you think? He's right behind the efforts to out all of Trutanich's dirty little secrets.

Remember, Jackson's campaign manager is John Thomas who used to be Trutanich's campaign manager. Thomas knows where all TRU's skeletons are buried and he's feeding them to the Dragnet and the Met News.

First the BillboardGate scandal, and then RentGate which is "poised" to grow into a real end of days scenario for Trutanich.

Where's Jackson? Right where he needs to be to take out Trutanich in the primary. So keep up with that fundraising Trutanich, sure could use that list of donors when Jackson has to face Lacey or Trujillo in the run off.

PS Nuch, I hear Starkist has an opening for an in-house lawyer, you might want to apply before you get canned!

Alan Jackson is reorganizing, and re-engineering his campaign. He will prove all the doubters wrong when he demonstrates that you can launch a county campaign on a 50 thousand dollar budget.

Plus the upcoming endorsement from Newt. Gingrinch will give him new wind.

What are the chances that Trutanich will drop out? I say 70% now and growing. Not because he wants to drop out but because he has to have waaaaaay more skeletons in that large closet of his that he's afraid will come out. I bet Dragnet knows most of them and is just dishing them out piecemeal. Which is fine, this is quite an entertaining blog! And you are doing us all a great service. Are there any other comparable blogs for any other politicians in LA or is Trutanich just the creepiest one?

Trutanich will not drop out. He's rolled the dice now and put his city attorney spot on the line. If he pulls out he goes back to being an ambulance-chasing plaintiff's attorney. He's going to go for broke on this, trust me. All we can do is hope that LA wakes up and smells the crap that comes out of his mouth.

Berger the stooge once again you got it totally screwed up. You only looked at his reporting for the primary regarding his office rental space. Oh i know why your a loser you didn't get out of the primary. I f you would of been successful you would of known there is a primary and a general election and you failed to pull the records from the general also, you stooge. you would of found the other two months. As for Alan Jackson he is broke, his slick campaign mgr.has spent all the cash. oh i forgot he's got Newt, the guy that has a million dollar debt with Tifany's, nice touch. Jackie Lacey is washed up and should go home, no cash and no desire. I forgot the republican is pushing the democrat, great job, no support and no cash. Berger you should be hunting for a job. hello to freeway therapy.

Nice try 12:47am, but if you look at the search terms that the Dragnet used on the City Ethics Commission's website, they searched for contributions and expenses for ALL Truttanich's campaigns - the Primary, the General, and the Office Holder's Account. Guess what? Only 2 rent payments, nothing for when Trutanich made his Pledge to Serve, and nothing when he went on Fox TV.

There was a strange payment to Allen Realty a year later, coincidentally for the exact amount of a month's rent ($2,053), but it was described as being for 'campaign paraphernalia,' not 'Office Expenses.' As you know, form F460 has to be signed under penalty of perjury, so it's unlikely that Trutanich will try to say the 2010 paraphernalia payment was actually rent. Apart from admitting to a false statement in 2010, he would also be admitting that he failed to report an unpaid bill in 2009. Even Trutanich isn't that stupid, just arrogant.

No, for all your abuse, threats and absurd bluster, you really are struggling to come up with an innocent explanation, perhaps because there isn't one. Are you Trutanich? You sure sound like him. Is this the famous 'Porcupine Defense' at work? It's still not working...

BTW, why do you call Berger a 'stooge?' He seems to be making Trutanich the butt of jokes fairly consistently. Must be worrying for you that Berger can stroll around the 6th floor at City Hall East so easily and chat with his old buddies at the City Attorney's Office picking up tidbits of gossip. I guess it's because Trutanich isn't there that much these days.
