ADDA Union shafts Trutanich

The union representing the Association of Deputy District Attorneys voted unanimously to reject city prosecutor Carmen Trutanich's candidacy for District Attorney and instead endorsed Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers. Previously the ADDA had recommended Trutanich to the LA County Federation AFL-CIO even though Trutanich had lied to them about non-existent police agency endorsements. The ADDA had also given AFL-CIO their 'thumbs-up' to DA candidates Steve Ipsen (who dropped out of the race), Bobby Grace, and Danette Meyers.

Rank and file DDAs were doubtless relieved that the ADDA union finally delivered a slap in the face to Trutanich and in doing so, joined the ever growing number of official organizations who are finding the strength in numbers to say what needs to be said; Trutanich is unfit to be District Attorney.

Previously, there had been considerable criticism of the ADDA's support for Trutanich as a 'pro-labor' candidate. It seems that the ADDA were unaware of the way Trutanich had refused to take the same pay cut that he had imposed on his staff. Whether that fact, or the recent revelations about irregularities in Trutanich's campaign caused their 'about face,' is unclear.

Lacey blasts Trutanich as a 'liar' and a 'cheat.'

Chief Deputy District Attorney Jackie Lacey gave her supporters cause for cheer when she delivered a withering attack on city prosecutor Carmen Trutanich's horrible record of lying and cheating. Lacey out-raised Trutanich in the last reporting period and has recently become increasingly outspoken about the very credible threat Trutanich represents. "Can you imagine someone so political in charge of the Public Integrity Unit?" she said. "That person would be susceptible to using that unit to go after their enemies." Lacey told the LA Daily News.

Lacey touts PORAC endorsement

Although District Attorney candidate Alan Jackson was first out of the box to announce that he and Lacey had received the joint endorsement of PORAC, the state's largest law enforcement association,  Lacey was quick to spread the news to her supporters.

"I am humbled that these law enforcement associations and their members have given me their endorsement. Their endorsement moves our campaign closer to obtaining the opportunity to serve the residents of Los Angeles County as the next District Attorney ." Lacey said. "I thank them for being law enforcement professionals with integrity."

PORAC are understood to have be gravely concerned with the way Trutanich has conducted his campaign with lies, tricks and misrepresentations at every step. The ruling last week by Superior Court Judge Joesph Kalin that Trutanich had intentionally sought to mislead voters, is believed to have given them all the ammunition they needed to take a firm stand against the disgraced politician.

The problem is that the damage has already been done. Nuch got waived on to the county Federation of Labor by the ADDA. He got their endorsement. That gives him an all access pass to their check book. Any statement now is just an interesting sentiment. The winner of the County Federation of Labor nod has it all, and Nuch got that with the ADDA blessing. Good job guys!

If the ADDA had consulted the people they claim to represent, the 1,000 Deputy DAs, neither Meyers nor Trutanich would have got the endorsement. Most DDAs know Jackie Lacey and know her to be a fair and very balanced leader. Cooley was right to back her and she will sweep the field in June, most likely coming in with the most votes.

Meyers has a strong but small following and no money. Her Sunday fundraiser did not go well. She will finish third from last, just ahead of Grace and Breault.

The real battle to get into the runoff will be between Jackson and Trutanich, and all you Dragnet watchers should be looking forward to the next lie from Trutanich to hit the front pages. It will finish Trutanich's campaign.

Losers pick losers. The ADDA just proved why only 234 DDAs voted for them. The ADDA does not care what the majority of DDAs want, and so they picked Meyers who embarrassed the office with her personal vendetta against Lindsay Lohan only to lose the case after all the hype. Same thing with the election. Only thing the ADDA got right was to stick it to Trutanich, I guess they finally realized that the entire ADDA board cannot all be Chief Deputy.

ADDA Board has made themselves irrelevent. No one cares what they think now.

They obviously couldn't back Jackson or Lacey because they have both proven to be anti union.

Danette will come in third behind Trutanich and Jackson. Lacey is canceling out her vote because no one knows if she's a Democrat or Cooley Republican.

Bobby Grace is ON THE ADDA Board. If these reports are true, and they haven't been confirmed yet, it's time for him to end his campaign with a little dignity.

Jackie Lacey has the competence, integrity and character to lead. I would much rather have someone with these attributes represent me and my interests than someone like Danette Meyers who is boisterous and flamboyant.

John and Ken had Danette on today. They said they will have all the candidates on so I guess that means we get to find out who John Breault is! The interview with Danette did not go well, they ended saying anyone but Trutanich...

How low will Danette go---well today she went on that racist John & Ken Show. Their must be something right about Trutanich if John & Ken don't like him

Of course the ADDA endorsed Meyers. They weren't gonna endores Jackson- he's a Republican- so the ADDA's parent union would have thrown a seizure. Lacey is Cooley's girl, so duh. Trutanich is a nightmare, and they would have had zero credibility if they went that route. If they endorsed Bobby, they felt that it'd be seen as rubber-stamping their own guy. So who's left?

Meyers.

the way the dynamics of the LA County electorate shake out, it's highly unlikely that you're gonna have two white males-both arguably Republicans, in the run-off. Conventional wisdom says Trutanich is in because of money and name recognition. The rest will split the votes up- but the female demo is more inclined to vote female. Minority is more inclined to vote minority. Whoever the LA Times endorses will seal the deal...if Lacey can get that endorsement, It's Trutanich-Lacey in November.

Trutanich won't be in the run off. You read it here first. There was a full scale panic on the 8th floor today, something HUGE is going on. Whatever it is, it must be way worse than all the stuff before, even losing the ballot title didn't cause the commotion like today. The 8th floor doors were shut for the first time since Trutanich came in and that was probably to stop the press from getting in and to stop the screaming from the conference room from getting out. A lot of very worried faces as well as a lot of sniggering from the 99% who had their pay cut while their supreme asshole leader doesn't take a cut and spends a grand on unbanded cuban cigars.

In your dreams.

@9:29PM I heard the same thing.

Word around City Hall East was that Trutanich was meeting with Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napalitano. Secret Service was all over the place.

Supposedly she's going to endorse him next week.

10:24pm Nice try Shallman. Napolitano cannot endorse anyone as she is an appointed executive. You Trutanich people keep on screwing up over endorsements, don't you? Besides, Trutanich is toxic right now. He won't be getting any endorsements from anyone in fact it wouldn't surprise me if he is about to lose quite a few. Adios a*hole.

I heard that the 8th floor executive office was on lockdown today. Something big was going on. It was not good and all the politicals were looking worried. I think they know there's a mole.
